How a piece is made

From light to legacy

Every piece crosses the same four thresholds — and nothing is engraved until you've seen it on paper first.

  1. Proof

We shape your idea into a visible direction — and you approve it before anything is made.

  2. Light

The beam cuts and engraves the approved design into real Baltic birch, layer by layer.

  3. Hands

Finishing, assembly, and inspection — done by hand, in Reno.

  4. Legacy

Packed and sent to join the chapter it was made for.

How SNLW got started

Giving the gift of a legacy

SNLW began when I couldn't find an affordable way to engrave thank-you gifts for my UNR Graduate Student Association council. One laser-engraving training later, I was hooked.

Today, every piece is designed and handcrafted by me, right here in Reno — 150+ of them since 2025, each one proofed, approved, and engraved one at a time.

The Sierra has been engraving names into aspen for a hundred years — Basque herders carved theirs into the high country long before I plugged in a laser. I'm just the latest hand.

  1. 1

    Tell us the story

Begin with a product, memory, milestone, sketch, photograph or problem you want to solve.

  2. 2

    Approve the proof

Where personalization requires it, you see and approve the important details before production begins.

  3. 3

    Made in Reno

Your piece moves through material, light, hands, finishing and final inspection.

No commitment. Nothing enters production until you approve the project details and any required proof.
