Frequently asked questions

Straight answers about how pieces are made, proofed, and shipped. Anything else — ask us directly.

Do I see my design before it's made?

Yes — every personalized piece gets a proof you approve before anything is engraved. We review your details, send the proof, and nothing enters production until you sign off. What you approve is exactly what we cut.

What are SNLW pieces made of?

Baltic birch is our primary material, with MDF or acrylic where a specific product calls for it. Pieces are built in up to three layers, cut and engraved by a 130-watt CO₂ laser, then finished, assembled, and inspected by hand in Reno, Nevada.

How long does a custom piece take?

Your digital proof typically lands within 1–2 weeks. Once you approve it, cutting, finishing, and shipping takes another 2–3 weeks. One-man workshop: good work takes the time it takes — and desired dates are always confirmed with the workshop before they're promised.

Is shipping free?

Yes on U.S. orders of $150 or more. Below that, shipping is calculated at checkout.

What if something arrives wrong?

If it's wrong by our hand, it's remade free — that's the Make-It-Right Guarantee. Ready-made catalog pieces also carry 30-day returns.

What makes engraved wall art different from a print?

Depth. A print is ink on a flat surface; an SNLW piece is real wood cut in stacked layers, so light catches each edge and the design casts its own shadows. The engraving is burned into the grain, not printed on top of it.

Can you make something that isn't in the catalog?

Usually, yes. Bring the idea — a name, a date, a sketch, a photo — through the Legacy Concierge and a real person in our Reno workshop will help you find its form, material, and scale. Nothing is produced or charged until you approve the project details and any required proof.
